Alpha Associates opens High Performance Products Division in Lakewood, NJ.
November 13, 1998
Alpha Associates, Inc., a producer of industrial
fabrics and composites since 1968, has opened a 60,000 square foot
facility in Lakewood, N.J. Situated on 15 acres in the Lakewood Industrial
Park, the building houses the headquarters and manufacturing operations
of Alpha's newly formed High Performance Products Division, which produces
Alphaglas brand PTFE-coated fabrics, tapes and belts, and specialty
elastomeric products. Immediate plans call for the High Performance
Products Division to employ 20 people in manufacturing, warehousing,
administrative and marketing positions. According to Chris Avallone,
Alpha Associates vice president, "The High Performance Products
Division will specialize in supplying superior value-added products
for industrial markets and applications such as food packaging, chemical
processing, aerospace, electronics and automotive manufacturing, and
architectural materials."
The Lakewood facility has all equipment
and personnel required to handle complete product development and manufacturing
operations in-house, a key element in Alpha's rigorous quality assurance
program. Onsite capabilities include coating equipment to produce PTFE-coated
fabrics and pressure-sensitive tapes, and calendering equipment to
manufacture composites made from various elastomers such as silicone.
Additional onsite production processes include custom slitting, belt
fabrication and die-cutting. The facility's all-new manufacturing lines
use state-of-the-art automated machinery to meet close-tolerance quality
specifications. In addition to standard products, the new division's
R&D capability will develop engineered solutions to satisfy specific
customer requirements.
Alphaglas PTFE-coated fiberglass fabric is a
strong, highly cleanable, chemically resistant material with superior
performance features for many industrial, materials handling and packaging
applications. Its smooth, low-friction, non-stick surface is ideal
for release sheets, guide rails and chute linings. With high tensile
strength, it resists cut-through, tearing and abrasion in all uses,
and its operating temperature range of -415°to +600°F meets
the requirements of high-temperature industrial applications
such as heat containment curtains and thermal insulation for gaskets
and seals.
The division's specialty elastomeric products are used for
heat control and thermal management in aerospace, transportation and
general industrial applications. The high-performance silicone products
are available in a range of constructions and offer temperature resistance,
long life, outstanding chemical resistance and high strength in harsh
and severe environments.
Headquartered in Woodbridge, N.J., Alpha Associates
was formed in 1968, originally supplying materials to the United States
space program. Internationally recognized as a leader in commercial
specialty coated and laminated materials, Alpha is a major supplier
to the safety, energy conservation and transportation industries. Alpha
products are used worldwide to protect workers, insulate equipment
and piping, provide noise control and resist various extreme industrial
environments. Through ongoing R&D, Alpha is continually developing
new materials to meet evolving requirements. Alpha's extensively automated
manufacturing operations meet the ISO 9001 standard, as well as applicable
safety and environmental regulations.
