Founded in 1968 as a manufacturer of specialty materials for the U.S. Space Program, Alpha Associates develops, manufactures and markets high-performance industrial fabrics, composites and elastomers. Alpha products are used in a wide range of critical applications and industries, including aerospace, automotive, marine, petrochemical, packaging, metal building, food processing, electronics, screen printing and more.

Alpha’s core technologies are frequently used to create new materials for energy conservation, safety and process-specific applications. Among others innovations, Alpha has contributed to revolutionary breakthroughs in flexible industrial ducting and removable insulation blankets. Many of these highly specialized products were developed in response to customer specifications and requirements.

1968 — Founded by Lou Avallone and Hugh Shulock
1969 — Began manufacturing insulation products in Kenilworth, N.J.
1973 — Relocated to Woodbridge, N.J.
1976 — Pioneered development of silicone fabrics for insulation and welding markets
1983 — Acquired specific assets from Stauffer Chemical Company to expand laminating capabilities
1987 — Alpha International established to serve European markets markets
1992 — Commercialized first domestically-produced silicone-coated automotive air bag fabric
1998 — Established High Performance PTFE division in Lakewood, N.J.
2000 — Obtained ISO 9001 registration
2001 — Acquired elastomer processing and specialty textile assets of RM Engineered Products
2001 — Established High Performance Elastomer (HPE) division in Charleston, S.C.
2002 — Obtained ISO 9001:2000 registration 2003 — Acquired and relocated specific assets of Buffalo Weaving & Belting to HPE division
